I’d looked through more magazines in 2017 than any other year, as I’d recently taken up collage. In that, I started noticing how rigid the structure of beauty for the women featured in advertisements was- how similar their features were, or had been made to be. And along with teacups and chairs, I started collecting their images. I started to take interest in the way the margin of what was being presented had thinned so much that different women could be combined into one cohesive face, and for a period made that the focus of my collage work.
